week 1 korean vocabulary

So, here is my korean words to memorize for this week for my 52 week korean vocabulary challenge. I got this from the 6000 most commonly used words from topik. Then I removed all the words I already know.

가지: One of the kind or a sort

경우: A circumstances, instance

경제: Economy

과정: Process or course, curriculum

관계: Connection or relation

교육: Education

국가: A state or a nation

그때: Then or at that time

기술: technique or ability, skill

나다: To come out, occur

나타나다: to Come out, appear

내다: to produce something, start, set up

놓다: to Put, place, set

대통령: The president

대하다: to Face, confront

민족: race,nation,people

사이: the relationship between 2 people

사회: society, community

삶: Life,living, existence

생활: lifestyle,livelihood

서다: To stand, rise

시대: An age,period,era, time

어느: Some, a certain

얻다: to Get, obtain, to have

여러: many,various, several, variety

의하다: To be based on, due to, owing to

이러하다: Be this way, be like follows

전체: The whole, the entire section

정부: Government

통하다: to lead; flow; go through

야채

I was cooking for dinner last time. (fresh lumpia, My favorite :p) While I was cutting the vegetables, I always ask “whats the korean of this?” so here’s what I found out.

Carrots – 당근
Cabbage – 배추(thanks to 유재석, he sold cabbage in infinity challenge before so I remember it)
onion – 양파
garlic – 마늘
Tomato – 토마토
pepper – 후추
Salt – 소금
Tofu – 두부

I don’t really like cooking but mixing it with Korean learning, it’s fun. Weird, right? 🙂

왼 and 오른

I’m always confuse with these two words.

왼 is left and 오른 is right.

왼손 – left hand
오른손 – right hand

왼쪽 – left side
오른쪽 – right side

왼눈 – left eye
오른눈 – right eye

왼팔 – left arm
오른팔 – right arm
